Based in Edinburgh, but serving clients across the United Kingdom, I offer a wide range of freelance video production services. As a former senior video producer at one of Edinburgh's leading full service marketing agencies, I have wide ranging experience working on video and motion graphics based productions for clients such as Huggies, Andrex, Kleenex, Pilsner Urquell, Highland Spring, Absolut Vodka and Unique Events to name but a few.
Services include:
- motion graphics
- video production and editing
- corporate video
- location and studio filming
- DVD authoring and menu design
- video content for web
- post production
- audio and music
- greenscreen work
- animation
I'm interested in working with both businesses and agencies alike and also happy to take on special projects for personal clients. My aim is to strike the right balance of both creative and production sensibilities with a personal touch, dedication to quality and a competitively cost effective approach.
Originally from London but now based in Edinburgh, I have over ten years agency side experience in Marketing. Originally specialising in digital project management as an Account Director at KLP Euro RSCG in Edinburgh, I moved to Multiply in 2003 where I began to focus on the production and creative sides of the business.
Already dabbling in video and animation as a hobby, I was soon able to put this to good use when clients began asking for video based solutions. Before long, this developed into a full time role, exposing me to a wide range of exciting and challenging projects. Video / motion graphics has since gone on to become one of the agency's key offerings.
I recently took the decision to go freelance in recognition of the growing demand for video and motion graphics work both agency and client side with the aim of finding new challenges and tackling a greater variety of projects than I ever could tied to a single agency.
The above showreel contains a selection of my work from the last few years, mainly during my time at Multiply featuring amongst others work for clients such as Kimberly-Clark (Huggies, Kleenex and Andrex), Absolut Vodka, Highland Spring and Pilsner Urquell. I've sadly had to omit a few of my favourites - some of the projects I have worked are currently too business sensitive to show in public right now - but nevertheless it should give you a good taster!
It’s not that easy to sum up what I do in a single phrase. Graphic designers have it easy – two words and everyone knows what they do! But these days, for those of us who work in video based media, it’s not so straightforward – to simply say ‘we do video’ doesn’t really do justice to the range of services we provide.
Of course, shooting and editing video is still a big part of it. You can now achieve a very high level of quality, even for a relatively modest budget and even sophisticated techniques such as greenscreen filming are now within everybody’s reach.
Motion Graphics is also now an integral part of the job. Using industry leading suites such as Adobe After Effects to deliver high quality graphical sequences and animations (based either on a client’s existing look and feel or designed from scratch), it’s not uncommon nowadays to deliver an entire video job without ever needing to pick up a camera.
As a freelance videographer, my job is to look after every stage of a project that falls into the increasingly broad definition of video, which these days can range from straightforward corporate video to sales tools, presentation materials, DVDs, training materials, TV advertising, content for websites, JumboTron screens, digital signage and POS displays. Accordingly, I can help in areas such as design and concepting, scriptwriting, storyboarding, direction, production management, voiceover, audio recording / editing, music, format restoration and conversion, visual effects, DVD menu design and even subtitling!
Whether you're a business thinking about using video, or an agency looking for help providing video based materials for your clients, or even just someone looking for someone with experience like mine to put a personal project together, please do get in touch. As an freelance supplier capable of delivering agency quality work but with none of the overheads, I am well placed to deliver a 'bang for your buck' that will be hard to beat.
